Nice machine, shame about the manual

The machine is well designed, with a hinged but easily removable lid, and a central pressure release button well away from the point where steam is ejected. It is so well insulated that the side is only warm to the touch, not hot, even after half an hour at full pressure: an important point in a kitchen with small children exploring or energy conscious cooks.
Electric pressure cookers are different to stove top ones, in that they control the temperature rather than the pressure, and the pressure valve is a safety device set higher than the operating 'pressure' chosen. This makes it virtually silent in operation.
It performs all the functions listed well, and provision has been made for drip from an opening lid to run into a little container on the back for disposal. It is an excellent machine.
But it is probably not a good choice for a timid pressure cooker novice. The accompanying leaflet - not worthy of the name of a manual - seems to be a cut and paste job from a previous model with descriptions of not-existent features and virtually no information about any function except cooking rice. For example, all mode buttons have two functions, yet there is nothing to tell you the difference between 'fry' and 'fried'. The keep warm function operates at 66C, far to cool for serving hot food, and I had to spend some time experimenting with the poorly documented DIY function to find that I could increase it.
Having said that it is a well made robust machine which should last well, and if you start off using it as a basic pressure cooker you can always play around with other features later.
