We will contact you to arrange a delivery date. We give you as much advance notice as possible, and we aim to keep time windows tight so you are not waiting in all day.

Delivery day
Our two-person team arrives, brings the appliance in carefully, and places it where you need it. Packaging is removed and taken away. If you have also booked installation, it happens on the same visit.

If installation was included, the team checks everything is working before they leave. If you have any questions after delivery, call us directly — you will speak to someone local who knows your order.

Same day
Selected in-stock items
On certain lines, we can sometimes arrange same-day delivery. This is not guaranteed, but if you need something quickly, call us on 01382 224488 and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
2–3 days
Standard in-stock delivery
The majority of in-stock appliances are delivered to Dundee and nearby Angus addresses within 2–3 working days of ordering. This is our standard delivery window for most orders.
3–5 days
Special-order and non-stock items
If the appliance you want is not currently held in our Dundee warehouse, we can usually source and deliver it within 3–5 working days. We will confirm the expected date at the time of ordering.

Dundee city & suburbs
DD1 to DD5 covers the city centre, Broughty Ferry, Lochee, Menzieshill, and surrounding neighbourhoods. This is our most frequently served area and is always within our standard delivery charge.
Across the Tay: Newport & Tayport
DD6 covers Newport-on-Tay and Tayport on the north Fife side of the river. We cross the Tay Bridge regularly — these areas are fully within our standard delivery zone.
Angus towns
We have branches in Forfar and Arbroath, and deliver regularly to all surrounding Angus communities including Carnoustie, Montrose, Brechin, and Laurencekirk. All on standard delivery rates.
St Andrews & Perth
KY16 (St Andrews) and PH1–PH2 (Perth) are within our extended delivery area. An additional charge applies — see the pricing table below or call us to confirm the total before ordering.

If you would rather pick up your appliance yourself, or if you need it sooner than a delivery slot allows, our click & collect service lets you order online or by phone and collect from our Dundee store at a time that suits you.

Why our delivery is different
Our own teams — not a courier
Most large appliance retailers use third-party couriers for delivery. We do not. Our delivery teams works for us, which changes everything about how your order is handled.
When a courier delivers a large appliance, their job is simply to drop it at the door. Our team members are employed by Colin M Smith — they know the product range, they take care with your property, and they can answer questions about the appliance when they arrive.
Because they also carry out our professional installation service, they understand how appliances connect and what to look out for during delivery. If anything looks unusual — a damaged package, an access problem — they will flag it and work with you rather than leaving the issue for you to sort out.
As a family-run independent retailer, our reputation in Dundee depends on every delivery going well. We do not have the luxury of treating customers as anonymous order numbers. If something goes wrong, you call us directly — and the person who answers will know your order and your area.

Do you deliver to my area?
We deliver throughout Dundee and a wide area of Angus and Perthshire. Our standard delivery zone covers DD1–DD11, AB30, AB39, and PH10–PH13 postcodes. Extended delivery (additional charge) is available to KY16 (St Andrews) and PH1–PH2 (Perth).

How much does delivery cost?
Standard drop-off delivery to DD postcodes and most Angus and Perthshire areas is £14.99. Extended delivery to St Andrews (KY16) is £19.99, and to Perth (PH1–PH2) is £45.00.
Side-by-side (American-style) fridge freezers and range cookers carry a delivery charge of £39.99 due to their size and weight. Out-of-area deliveries are priced on application — call us to confirm.
How long will delivery take?
For most in-stock appliances, delivery to Dundee and the local area takes 2–3 working days. If you need something sooner, call us — same-day delivery is sometimes possible on selected lines depending on current stock levels.
Special-order items that are not held in our Dundee warehouse typically take 3–5 working days. We will give you an accurate estimated date at the time of ordering.
Do you use your own delivery team or a courier?
We use our own in-house two-person delivery teams — not a third-party courier. This means your appliance is handled by people who work directly for Colin M Smith, who understand the products, and who can assist with access or placement on the day.
It also means there is a direct line back to us if anything is not right after delivery — you are not trying to chase a courier call centre.
Can delivery and installation be done at the same time?
Yes — and we recommend it. Because our delivery team also carries out our installation service, we can deliver, unpack, install, test the appliance, and remove your old one all in a single visit. This saves you from having to take two separate days off or manage two separate bookings.

What happens to my old appliance on delivery day?
If you have booked our installation service, our team will disconnect and remove your old appliance as part of that visit. We can arrange responsible recycling — this service is available for appliances purchased from Colin M Smith.
If you have only booked delivery (not installation), please have your old appliance disconnected and ready for collection by our team if you want it removed. See our recycling page for more information including pricing.
Can I collect instead of having it delivered?
Yes — click & collect is available from our Dundee branch at Hawkhill Court, Mid Wynd, DD1 4JG, as well as from our Forfar and Arbroath stores. Order online or by phone, and we will contact you to confirm when your appliance is ready for collection. There is on-site parking at Hawkhill Court.
Do you deliver to Newport-on-Tay and Tayport?
Yes. Newport-on-Tay and Tayport (DD6) are within our standard delivery zone — no extended charge applies. We cross the Tay Bridge regularly and these areas are well within our usual delivery routes.
Do you deliver to St Andrews?
Yes, we deliver to St Andrews (KY16), though this falls within our extended delivery area and a charge of £19.99 applies rather than the standard rate. Please call us on 01382 224488 before ordering to confirm availability and the total cost including any installation you require.
