Why go built-in

More kitchen. More control. Better results.

A built-in oven is fixed at eye level inside a kitchen cabinet — no bending to check on your roast, no wasted floor space, and a cleaner look throughout. Here is why so many Dundee households are making the switch.

Eye

Level access — safer and more practical

Mounted at counter height, a built-in oven puts the door and rack at a level where you can see inside, lift dishes out safely, and avoid awkward bending. Particularly valued by older cooks and those with back or knee problems.

1
60cm

Standard cavity fits most kitchen units

The majority of built-in ovens share a 60 cm width and a standard niche depth, making them interchangeable within most kitchen cabinets. Upgrading is straightforward without a full kitchen refit.

2
Fan

Fan-assisted cooking for even results

Most modern built-in ovens include fan-assisted or multi-function modes that circulate heat evenly across every shelf. That means baking on two levels, roasting without hotspots, and consistent results every time.

3
A+

Energy-rated models to suit every budget

From straightforward A-rated single ovens to A+ and beyond, we stock models that keep running costs sensible. We will help you match energy rating to your cooking habits and budget when you visit or call.

Built-in cooking range

Everything for your built-in kitchen

Whether you are specifying a full kitchen or simply replacing an ageing oven, we stock every part of the built-in cooking picture — from single ovens and pyrolytic self-cleaners to induction hobs and integrated microwaves. Come in and compare them side by side.

Pairing an oven and hob? Buying both at the same time means we can coordinate delivery and installation in a single visit, saving you time and cost. Give us a call on 01382 224488 and we will talk through compatible combinations.

Delivery in Dundee

Local delivery, handled by our own team

Built-in appliances need careful handling on the way in. We use our own two-person delivery team — not a third-party courier — so your oven arrives safely and the installation can begin right away.

In-stock items are typically delivered to Dundee addresses within 2–3 days of ordering. If you need something sooner, call us on 01382 224488 — same-day or next-day delivery is occasionally possible on selected lines.

Special-order models usually take 3–5 days from the date of order. We will keep you updated on lead times.

Our two-person team delivers throughout Dundee city (DD1–DD5) and the surrounding Angus area, including Carnoustie, Forfar, Arbroath, Brechin, Montrose and more.

Because built-in ovens are fitted directly into cabinetry, we strongly recommend combining delivery with our installation service. Our engineers will arrive as part of the same visit, disconnect and remove the old appliance, fit and test the new one, and demonstrate its functions before they leave.

Click & collect is also available from our Hawkhill Court store if you have a fitter already arranged and simply need the appliance ready to pick up.

Unsure whether your address is within our delivery area? Call us or check our delivery details page.

Standard drop-off delivery from £14.99. Delivery and installation can be combined in one visit — see the section below for installation details and pricing.

Choosing a built-in oven online is harder than it sounds — photographs do not tell you how the door feels, how the interior lights up, or how the controls are laid out. Come into our Dundee store and our staff will walk you through the range without any pressure to buy on the day.

Bring your cabinet measurements and we can confirm which models will fit your existing niche. If you are planning a full kitchen, we are happy to discuss oven and hob combinations that work together visually and functionally.

Why shop local in Dundee

The difference a local specialist makes

A built-in oven is not a plug-in purchase — it involves measurements, cabinet compatibility, electrical connections and careful fitting. Getting it right first time is far easier when the person selling it is also the person installing it.

At Colin M Smith, our staff know the range in detail. When you ask about cavity depth, self-cleaning options, or whether a particular model will fit your existing niche, you get a straight answer — not a redirected FAQ link. We have been advising Dundee households on kitchen appliances since 1970 and that experience shows.

As a Euronics member, we have access to a wide brand portfolio and competitive buying terms usually associated with national chains — combined with the attentiveness of a family-run business that is accountable to its local community.

Our in-house installation team means no subcontractors and no miscommunication between the retailer and the fitter. The same company that sold you the oven delivers and installs it — and if there is ever a problem, you have one phone number to call.

We also cover the wider Dundee and Angus area: Newport-on-Tay, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Arbroath, Brechin, Montrose and more. If you are not sure whether you are in our delivery zone, give us a call before you order.

Common questions

Built-in oven FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most often in store and on the phone. Anything not covered here — just call us on 01382 224488.

Can you install a built-in oven in Dundee?

Yes — we offer professional built-in oven installation throughout Dundee and the surrounding Angus area using our own in-house team. Our installation service for built-in electric ovens and hobs is priced from £89.99 and covers unpacking, disconnecting your old appliance, fitting and testing the new one, and a full demonstration before we leave.

Delivery and installation are coordinated as a single visit wherever possible, so you are not waiting on two separate appointments.

Will a new built-in oven fit my existing kitchen cabinet?

Most built-in ovens are manufactured to a standard 60 cm width and are designed to drop into a 60 cm tall niche. The key measurement to check is the cabinet cutout height (typically 590 mm for a standard single oven) and the depth of the cabinet from front to back — most ovens need at least 550 mm of clear depth.

If you are replacing like-for-like, bring in the make and model of your existing oven (usually on a label inside the door) and we will identify compatible replacements that will slot straight in. If you are unsure, call us and we will talk through the measurements with you before you order.

What is the difference between a fan oven, a multifunction oven, and a pyrolytic oven?

Fan-assisted ovens use a rear fan to circulate heat, giving more even cooking across all shelves than a conventional top-and-bottom element. They are the most common type and suit general everyday cooking well.

Multifunction ovens combine fan cooking with additional modes — such as grill, bottom heat, pizza settings, or defrost — giving you more flexibility for different dishes.

Pyrolytic ovens include a self-cleaning mode that heats the cavity to a very high temperature to incinerate food residue. You wipe out the resulting ash when it cools. It is the most thorough oven-cleaning method available and removes the need for chemical cleaners. The trade-off is a higher purchase price and a hotter kitchen during the cleaning cycle.

Not sure which type suits your cooking habits? Come into the store or give us a call and we will help you decide.

Do you stock double ovens and compact built-in ovens?

Yes — alongside standard 60 cm single ovens, we stock double ovens (a main fan oven beneath a smaller conventional oven or grill) and compact built-in ovens, which are shallower in height and often paired with an integrated microwave in a tower unit. Browse our built-in electric oven range online or visit the store where we can compare models across sizes.

What is the difference between a ceramic hob and an induction hob?

Both sit flush with your worktop and look similar, but they work differently. A ceramic hob heats a glass surface using radiant elements beneath; the whole zone gets hot and stays warm after you turn it off. An induction hob generates heat directly in the base of compatible magnetic cookware, leaving the surrounding surface cool to the touch — making it faster, more energy-efficient and safer around children.

Induction requires compatible pans (steel or cast iron — test with a fridge magnet). If your current pans are not magnetic, factor in the cost of replacement. Our staff can advise on which type suits your kitchen and cooking style.

How long does built-in oven delivery and installation take in Dundee?

In-stock ovens are typically delivered to Dundee addresses within 2–3 days of ordering. Special-order models generally take 3–5 days. The installation itself usually takes between one and two hours depending on access, cabinetry and whether a hob is being fitted at the same time.

We coordinate delivery and installation as a single visit wherever practical. Call us on 01382 224488 to confirm current availability and book a slot.

Will you take away my old oven?

Yes — our team can remove your old built-in oven on the same visit as installation. We arrange WEEE-compliant recycling for kitchen appliances from £19.99. Please make sure the appliance has been disconnected from the mains supply before our team arrives. This service is available for appliances purchased from Colin M Smith.

See our recycling page for full details.

Can I order a built-in oven online and collect from your Dundee store?

Yes — click & collect is available from our Dundee branch at Hawkhill Court, Mid Wynd, DD1 4JG. This is a popular option for customers who have a kitchen fitter booked and need the appliance ready on a specific date. We will contact you once your order is ready to collect. Call 01382 224488 if you need to confirm availability or timing in advance.

What warranty comes with a built-in oven from Colin M Smith?

All built-in ovens we supply come with the manufacturer’s standard warranty. Terms vary by brand and model — most offer a minimum of one to two years, and some manufacturers provide extended cover of up to five years on specific ranges. Call us and we can confirm the warranty terms on the models you are considering before you buy.
